General Information - page 1/2

Test results

  • When a doctor or nurse arranges for an investigation or test to be undertaken they will explain to the patient how to obtain the results.

Waiting times

  • Surgeries and clinics will normally start on time.
  • We expect patients to be seen within 30 minutes of their appointment time, and in the event of a delay we will offer an explanation.
  • When a doctor is called away on an emergency we will inform the patients and give them the opportunity to book an alternative appointment or, if preferred, to be seen by another doctor.

Out of hours emergencies

  • We will do everything possible to ensure that our system for contacting the duty doctor is easy to follow, reliable and effective.

Poplars Appointment System

20% of our appointments are available for pre-booking up to two weeks in advance (from 8.10 am-9.00 am with two of the doctors and from 8.30-9.00am with the remainder)
80% of appointments become available on the day. Simply contact us by telephone on the day you need to be seen and we will do our best to accommodate you, if at all possible, with the doctor of your choice. Please try to ring between 8.30 and 9.00 am.

If you do not have a telephone you can call into reception in person from 8.10 am, but you will have to be prepared to return later for your appointment. The surgery Receptionists are available to speak to face to face, from 8.10 am until 6.30 pm.

Speaking to a doctor or nurse during surgery opening hours

If you need to speak to a doctor or nurse and the clinician is not consulting, your call will be put through to the clinician. If the clinician has begun surgery, you will be advised of the time when he/she should have finished seeing patients and to ring at that time. If you ring again and the clinician is still not available to take the call, the Receptionist will give your telephone number to the clinician to ring you as soon as they are free to do so.
